art in the window information & agreement

Food for Thought Books Collective offers its front right-side window to local artists wishing to share their work with the community. The following outlines the agreement the artist makes when exhibiting with us.

  • Art installations last for one month each.
  • The artist must install the work themself. Due to space constraints at Food for Thought Books, it is important that the artist be available to uninstall their art on the date agreed upon in advance.
  • Available space consists of a display window which measures approximately 35” deep, by 82” wide, by 90” tall. Our windows receive direct sunlight and are not equipped with UV ray protection. Artists should take into account the possible effects of prolonged sun exposure on their work when considering an installation here.
  • During the period that an artist’s work is installed we will do our best to ensure the safety of the art. However, Food for Thought Books cannot assume financial responsibility for any damage that occurs during this time.
  • We are glad to display art that is for sale, but we cannot handle the transactions for the sale of the work. You may leave instructions (website, phone number, email) that we will pass on to interested people.
  • It may be possible to have an art opening/reception at the beginning of a month-long installation, depending on Food for Thought’s pre-existing calendar of events. If we are able to schedule an opening/reception, it must take place during regular store hours and the artist must assume responsibility for publicity, setting up for the event, and cleaning up afterwards.
  • There may be times during the year when the Food for Thought window will not be available for art installations.
