A Reading & Booksigning with Barbara Dana, author of a novel for Young Adults

Join us for a reading with author, actor and playwright Barbara Dana, as she explores her new novel for young adults.

Before she was an iconic American poet, Emily Dickinson was a spirited girl eager to find her place in the world. Expected by family and friends to mold to the prescribed role for women in mid-1800s New England, Emily was challenged to define herself on her own terms.

Award-winning author Barbara Dana brilliantly imagines the girlhood of this extraordinary young woman, capturing the cadences of her unique voice and bringing her to radiant life.

Please join us for an Education for Liberation field trip to the unveiling and dedication of a mural painted by five Holyoke High School seniors;  Gesenia Gutierrez, Fernando Ortiz, Jesenia Paredes, Andy Maldonado, and Elahn Santiago in collaboration with Carla Wojczuk (Community Facilitator and UMass/Amherst School of Education/ Social Justice Education Program Graduate student), as part of a Mural Arts Workshop in The CONNECTIONS After School Program at Holyoke High.
