Offsite: Occupy Wall Street Film Shorts at the Academy of Music
Food For Thought Books is excited to be selling books at this exciting event!
Come to the Academy of Music in Northampton on Wed., Feb. 1st, to experience a unique selection of independent films from Occupy Wall Street and learn about the increasingly important role that crowdsourced media plays in social justice movements. An hour of film shorts will be followed by a facilitated conversation with OWS organizers and representatives of community and activist groups in Western MA, who will be joined by filmmaker Messiah Rhodes and curator Nick Shimkin.
Films to be screened will include short work from: "Right Here All Over" (Alex Mallis), "Occupy the Hood" (Adele Pham), "Consensus" (Meerkat Media), "Occupy Bat Signal for the 99%" (Mark Read), "Why Occupy Portland?" (Softbox Digital), "The Council of Elders Stand in Solidarity With OWS"
(Beloved Community Center), "Feed the Movement: Next Barn Over Farm" (Chris Landry), "Homeowners Speak Out" (Messiah Rhodes) ... plus clips from Barcelona and Occupy London Stock Exchange
This impressive and thoughtfully chosen program of indie grassroots
political cinema totals about 80 minutes, followed by an hour-long
discussion. We will happily be accepting donations at the door to cover
costs for this FREE screening.
