Join us to discuss The Lives of Transgender People by Genny Beemyn and Susan Rankin!

Based on a survey of nearly 3,500 self-identified transgender people and follow-up interviews with more than 400 of the participants, The Lives of Transgender People examines the varied experiences of gender nonconforming individuals in the United States today.  It considers the climate for transgender people and offers a series of "touchstones," or significant life moments, in the gender identity development processes of the participants who identify as transsexual women, transsexual men, crossdressers, and genderqueer individuals.

Join Genny Beemyn, Director of the UMASS Stonewall Center, as ze will examine the gender identity development of gender non-conforming youth and compare their development with the experiences of older gender nonconforming people. Genny will also consider some significant life moments in the lives of the trans-spectrum participants and discuss the implications of the research for those who work with and seek to support gender nonconforming youth.
