Please join us for a community reading and art exhibit with local Native American artist & author Robert Peters.

4:00–4:30pm: Community reading of Da Goodie Monsta

The book Da Goodie Monsta is a tale based on a dream his son Robert Junior had at age 3. The illustrations captured his son’s imagination with masterful etching in colorful halftones shades that express the mood and timeline of the story.

"This story bridges the main character being a child of color, but the story is still fantasy, which is great," said Thorpe, (founder and CEO of Wiggles Press in Cambridge, MA). "It's the type of thing I want to do-bringing out childhood but still bringing out creativity and a child's imagination."

Da Goodie Monsta, though based in Native American culture, has a message for anyone who reads it, said Peters.

"We are a society of people where, right now, we're not even really dreaming. We're just treading water, trying to get from one crisis to the next," Peters said. "It's important for people not just to recognize their own dreams, but it's important to recognize when other people are going towards their dreams."
